We are delighted to announce that entries are now open for the 2020 Mulberry Bush Montessori Balfron 10k, which takes place on Sunday May 3rd. Early entry is recommended to guarantee your place.
We have listened to all your comments and feedback from 2019 and used it to inform our planning for 2020 event.
An exciting change is a new race route. Loyal runners and veterans of the Balfron 10k down the years will already be familiar with the course as for 2020 we are reverting to the ‘old’ route.
The race will still start from Balfron High School, however the route will not go down through the village via Cotton St, Buchanan St and up Dunmore St. Instead it will follow Roman Rd out to join the country road, making it a true out and back run, finishing at the high school.
Also new for this year is a team competition. There will be prizes for Scottish Athletics clubs and a separate category for corporate and non-affiliated teams. Teams must have a minimum of three members. If you are thinking about getting some friends or work colleagues together, agree your team name now as you will be asked for it when entering the race.
There is no extra cost for entering a team. There is a section on the race entry form for you to select if you are entering as part of a team and what team you will be representing.
The support we’ve received for attempting to make the Balfron 10k Scotland’s greenest event has been amazing. We want to continue to make further improvements to our operations in order to deliver a race that has minimal impact on the environment and sets a standard for other events to follow.
As always, we want to give you a safe race and a high-quality event. The costs of delivering this ambition have risen and therefore the entry fee has had to be increased slightly to meet these additional costs. The event is organised by community volunteers and any funds raised through entries or the generosity of sponsorship are donated to local charities as well as Balfron High School and Balfron Primary School. |
