Millies in action

Hi folks, once again we are very sort of stewards for the Vale of Leven 10K on Sunday 5th June, can you help? This year is our 30th Anniversary, and we want this to go well. The route has changed with fewer road crossings, and still do need your continued support for the finale.
Timing is 9am until approximately 11:30.
All volunteers will receive a goody bag, bottle of water, Mars bar and a pair of Polaroid sunglasses.
Please let us know as soon as possible and appreciate if you can copy both Winnie and Jim on your reply (Winifred.Turner@safilo.com; jamesdoig@blueyonder.co.uk), we’ll be allocating marshalling areas and provide final details to you including assembly point etc. over the couple of weeks. We appreciate very much your support in helping to make this event the finale to the 10k series for 2016!
Many thanks
Liz

2016 Bute Highland Games10k Road Race
Saturday 20th of August 2016
Dear club representative,
On behalf of the organising committee of Bute Highland Games I wish to take the opportunity of inviting your organisation to participate in our athletics competition this year.
We have a limited number of spaces this year and to avoid disappointment we are encouraging competitors to pre-register online. There are many advantages of pre-registering for this event such as the added benefit of getting access to the complete highland games experience, free of charge (saving you £10). Please take full advantage of this and enjoy some incredible competitions from highland dancing to caber tossing.
Entry to the 10k event is £10 for Scottish Athletics’ members and £12 each for non-members.
For any further information please visit our website http://www.butehighlandgames.org and if you have Facebook give us a wee ‘like’ at Bute Highland Games to keep up to date with event news and features.

To all members of the running family,
Army Captain – David Seath collapsed while running the London Marathon at the 23 mile mark and sadly died later . His friends are going to complete the 3.2 miles of the marathon course in his honour this weekend.
In order for the running family here in West Dunbartonshire & Argyle and Bute to show fellow support, I have organised a 3.2 Mile route around Levengrove Park for Sunday 1st of May. Meet for 9.50am for a 10.00am start at the War Memorial within the park.See link below for a looped course around the park to cater for all abilities but more importantly showing joggers and runners helping each other.
It must be stressed that this is just a gentle jog around the park to complete the marathon distance for David.

Please help raise awareness

Thankyou

Well we did something right!! I have received the official email from the 401 Challenge asking us to help support Ben again!
Please put 10th July in your calendar! It’s a Sunday so hopefully more people can run with him. I can’t run as I’m flying back from France that day but I’ll happily organise again.
Any input with route, coffee stops, lunches etc gratefully received! It’s the Luss area this time so should be easy enough to map out. No crazy hills please, he’s a road runner remember!
Thanks,
Emma

Well, the Millie’s did Ben proud today. We had a great turnout and support given we are a small club. Thanks to Captain Pat for running the full route and Jim R for cycling whole route and keeping spirits up! Thanks to Paul M for taking a half day and running 16.5 miles to support Ben on the post lunch leg. And thanks to Paul W for supporting us with teas & coffee on the first leg. (Rumours are you learned how to make coffee today! If true, well done, it was perfect!😂)
Thanks also to Sarah and Lorna for their support. Cafe Zest at Lomond Shores provided excellent and complimentary sustenance for the lads to keep their energy levels up and also provided drinks for the other members of the party who were visiting Ben on his lunch stop. We are extremely grateful for their generosity!
Dumbarton Reporter photographer arrived at Lomond Shores for a group photo. Will post when in newspaper.
We maybe asked to support Ben on a further run later in the year (July) where he will be running around the Luss area and it’ll be on a Saturday. I’ll keep everyone posted and hopefully be able to provide even more support next time!
Well Done Millies!!

Is there any one free on Wednesday to assist with coffee on Ben’s marathon with the Millies? I was planning on having coffee waiting for him on the horseshoe but my original plan has fallen through. Any helpers? (I’m not pampering him, he requested this as its part of his routine. He cannot preload diet wise since he is running a marathon everyday)
If you can help, please contact me on 07739863883. Thanks!
