Message from Maurice

Dear all, It’s not too late to enter the Festive Training Run for next Sunday or if you wish to help volunteer, then please contact me at maurice.donohue@samh.org.uk

When you complete or assist at the Funding Neuro/ Scottish Association for Mental Health Festive Run, you will get a reward for your efforts .

So on the Goodie Bag conveyor belt you will get:

Health bar, shampoo, hair gel, t-shirt, a copy of Run ABC Scotland, energy gels, a bottle of water, Tunnocks Tea Cake and much more, Oh I forgot……. a “Cuddly Toy” – Yeah! (Sorry getting carried away now, that was the from the “Generation Game”, but you can get a well- deserved cuddle or hug at the end of the run)

If you can help spread the word that would be great

Yours,

Maurice

Note from Dunbartonshire AAA re forthcoming races

I know that at this time of year, many clubs are putting together the fixtures for their annual Club Championships. Can I ask your committees to please consider including the West District Championship road races in support of your fellow clubs? The two races confirmed so far are both excellent and very highly recommended. They are:-
  • Tom Scott 10-mile race, Sunday 10 April (hosted by Law & District)
  • Brian Goodwin Memorial 10k, Friday 17 June (hosted by Bellahouston Harriers). This sells out – get entries in pronto!
  • (The WD Half-Marathon race is still TBC).
I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce a brand new event on to your radars. The Kilmarnock “Roon The Toon” 10k will take place on Sunday 12 June 2016 (draft flyer attached). Entries will open in January and it is likely to sell out, but Ian Gebbie of Kilmarnock Harriers (cc’d above if you want to contact him) will reserve places for any clubs who want to put it in their championships. Check out www.roonthetoon.com once it goes live in January.
Lastly, as you know, it is the West District Cross Country Championships on Sunday 6 December, very kindly hosted by Bellahouston Road Runners. It would be extremely helpful if some volunteers would put themselves forward to help with course-building and dismantling on the day, and also to help out as marshals. Please can any willing volunteers get in touch with Brian O’Donnell or Henry Merriweather of Bellahouston Road Runners (cc’d above) to offer their help? It would be hugely appreciated.
Many thanks and kind regards

Further to my email of 5th November, each club participating in the Dunbartonshire AAA Cross Country Championships this Saturday, apart from the host club Dumbarton AAC who arrange the course stewards, is required to supply two officials for other duties.

In this connection I am still awaiting the returns which were due yesterday from the following clubs:

Glasgow University Hares and Hounds

Helensburgh AAC

Kirkintilloch Olympians (promised for tomorrow)

Milburn Harriers

Victoria Park City Glasgow AC

Westerlands CCC

So looking for 2 volunteers to assist please if available.
